Maxine Ryder, Production Supervisor at Shelforce has been nominated for the Unsung Hero Award at the G23 Awards.
The award recognises those in the industry who have gone above and beyond, and Maxine has made the shortlist thanks to the support she provides to her 28-strong team on the factory floor.
Shelforce provides high-quality windows and doors, including fire doors, to local authority building projects. Contributing to a much greater agenda, however, is the company’s social vision, employing some of the city’s most vulnerable people, with 75% of its workforce having a disability.
As well as being responsible for the production and dispatch of all the products Shelforce manufactures, Maxine, who has worked at the Birmingham-based company for 15 years, looks after the pastoral care side of the operation. She manages and communicates with employees who have different needs, and she also supports the workforce outside of the factory in their daily lives whenever they need it.
